The movie was released way back in March and she's hardly a household name, but Tabu's stunning transformation—from a 21-year-old cautiously entering into an arranged marriage to a 50-year-old woman discovering how to survive on her own—within a two-hour running time merits a place on any list of the year's best performances. —G.B.
