5. "Candy" (2006)

A beautifully filmed junkie romance that also ranks as Ledger's best showcase from his native Australia. It's not always easy to watch, but Ledger is remarkably well matched with rising star Abbie Cornish. Their chemistry leads to the second most fully realized romantic relationship in Ledger's on screen career (and considering what's #1, that's no small feat).
