Fall movie preview: Saving 2008?

“Changeling” (Oct. 24 in select cities; wide on Oct. 31)

Clint Eastwood is doing double duty as a director this year, his “Gran Torino” is due out Dec. 25, but this is the more hotly hyped title thanks to Cannes Film Festival praise and a tabloid-friendly leading lady. Angelina Jolie stars as a woman whose son is kidnapped and then rescued, only to return to her as a seemingly different child. Word is “Changeling” has a good shot at landing Eastwood yet another Best Picture nomination, but will the cops and missing kids angle feel like more of the same from the “Mystic River” director?
