The movie: Director Barry Levinson's intimate character drama about money-hungry hotshot Charlie Babbitt (Tom Cruise) exploiting his autistic-savant brother Raymond’s (Dustin Hoffman) gift with numbers in Vegas.
Game of choice: Six-deck blackjack. Definitely, definitely six-deck blackjack.
Winning or losing hand?: The film walked away with a sizable pot: four Oscar wins, including Best Picture, and over $170 million at the box office. Though it's remembered more today for its heartwarming story of fraternal love than its blackjack scenes, it created an interest in the phenomenon of card counting that paved the way for "21," and influenced some viewers into thinking they could cheat their way into a comped suite at Caesar's Palace.
