"Funny Games" (2007/1997)
Credit:The Kobal Collection/ Dreamachine
Tagline: The rules are simple. Pick a family and make them play.
Director: Michael Haneke
The plot: An upper class family takes a vacation to their summer home only to be mentally and physically terrorized by polite white glove wearing young psychopaths. It’s "A Clockwork Orange" for the turn of the millennium and a movie so not nice that Haneke made it twice (first in Austria and more recently in Hollywood with Naomi Watts).
The shock: Physical and psychological torture, extreme satire, golf club bludgeoning and hyper-punk musical anarchy by freak metal-jazzster John Zorn.
