Like the last reviewer, I am an Aussie, so this movie held a special place in my heart. The scenery and filming is amazing! I would watch it again just to see the outback again! Loved the little Aboriginal boy character, and like a lot of Aussies I got a lot of the humor that I am sure will whiz past non-Aussies. All-in-all though, I am a huge fan of Baz Luhrman, so if you liked Moulin Rouge!, Romeo and Juliet or Strictly Ballroom you will love this movie too.

Being an and Aussie watching this film in a cinema full of Americans I realized pretty quickly that I was laughing at things, and I got little jokes and connections that others missed - simply because they didn't grow up there, and don't understand the use of language.

They had put subtitles on some of the Aboriginal's talking, but I think they forgot to add it to the really really thick accents of the AUSSIE blokes. I had trouble understanding.... let alone the american audiences.

It was very cinematic, with sweeping shots, and amazing scenery but it seemed like it went on way WAY too long.

I thought it was a little cheesy at the end that you have an aboriginal character saying "come see my country" and then says "come see our country".... to signify unity and acceptance of white people on their land. I don't know how the aboriginal community feels about that being said in a film made by "white" Australia.

It really made me sad to see it and see how the British really miss treated the children and native people of Australia when they first arrived... and to be watching in on Thanksgiving weekend seemed a little ironic.
