Schoolyard Tavern & Grill

Neighborhood: Lakeview
3258 N. Southport Ave.

Chicago, IL 60657
773-528-8226
Heavy wood trim, drawing room art work and a backroom fitted with a plush sitting area give this Wrigleyville tavern the feel of an elite neighborhood clubhouse. Schoolyard Tavern offers a pleasant, low-key environment in which to drink with friends or catch a major sporting event on one of their 16 plasma TVs. (They also sport a video wall.) Nightly food and drink specials roll from the brand new kitchen, designed by Paul Doptis, of Cafe Absinthe. The menu is laden with eccentric options like Baja fish tacos filled with beer-battered cod and a tilapia sandwich. For dessert, score a homemade skillet cookie sundae with vanilla bean ice cream.

"Great Tots!"

KCEB327 from Chicago - September 17, 2007

Great food and great place to hang! Not a snotty group of people. Not my top choice for crazy sports cheering, but a nice rowdy-enough crowd.
