The menu changes daily at this hip spot. It's known for its artisinal fare and organic focus, which probably explains why local foodies are regulars (look for star chef sightings while you're here). Standout choices span from the traditional: the locally raised organic roast chicken with red potates, sauteed spinach and pan jus, to the eccentric: the spicy shiitake mushroom quesadilla with spinach, queso fresco and chevre or the chilled peanut satay noodles with gomae (Japanese-spiced greens) and marinated tofu. Watch for changing artwork tacked to the walls and listen to the latest indie rock playing from employee iPods over the speakers.
Owners are planning to open a new restaurant this fall in Pilsen (2119 S. Halsted St.). Co-owner Jason Hammel tells us the menu will be “very seasonal and very simple, pared-down, yet bold” and that Jason Vincent (currently a sous chef at Lula) will be the chef de cuisine. The name is still under wraps; check back for additional updates.
