Originally built in 1923, the arena underwent a massive $632 million renovation in 2003. Nestled in the old classical pillars, the newly completed stadium has 61,500 seats, twice as many concession stands, 1.25 million watts of lighting and two video monitors as big as any in the NFL. Perhaps most important to fans drinking beer in the cold, it also boasts double the number of toilets as the old stadium.

Ensconced next to the high-culture strip that borders Lake Michigan south of the Loop, Soldier Field's neighbors include McCormick Place to the south, with the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium immediately to the north. For football fans, Soldier Field has been home to the Chicago Bears since 1971 and Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire since 1998. The stadium also plays host to many special events each year.
