Chase Park is one of a select number of Chicago parks with its own drama instructor. As a result, it not only offers drama classes and puts on plays in its 130-seat auditorium, but has programs for the theatergoer as well. The Chase Park Theatre Club sees a different play each Thursday, then gets to meet the actors and directors. In the summer, the park holds a Theatre Camp, one of five in the Chicago Park District. For sports, Chase Park has a swimming pool, tennis courts, an outdoor track, and indoor basketball courts. Adults can join one of the softball leagues, while kids ages 6 to 12 can sign up for Cubs Care Baseball, a program sponsored by the Cubs. The Chicago Cubs pay for all the equipment, and invite the kids to Wrigley Field for a clinic. Yearly events at Chase Park include the Chase Park Mini-Fest in August, and the Holiday Extravaganza, a Christmastime festival that features a horse-drawn hay ride around the track.
