The Drake has been a Chicago tradition since it first opened its doors in 1920, and the stately hotel is still in spectacular shape. Over the years the Drake has hosted kings, queens, Hollywood stars and celebrities, including Prince Charles. Guest rooms face either the lake or Michigan Avenue. (Lake-view rooms are available upon request.) Across the street from the Oak Street Beach, the hotel has a sweeping view of Lake Michigan and Lake Shore Drive. Its restaurants include the fountain-centered Palm Court, which serves high tea in the afternoon and hosts popular swing dance nights, the Cape Cod Room, one of the most famous seafood restaurants in town, and the Drake Bros.'
