While budget constraints prevented architects Ron Krueck and Mark Sexton from realizing their plan of a light well that would have extended the full 10-story height of the new Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies, they were nonetheless able to create superb interlocking interior spaces on the building s upper floors. This is a view from the 10th floor, where temporary exhibition galleries were being installed last week. It looks down to the 9th floor and its multi-purpose great hall. Visible in the background, through glass, is the grandly-scaled 8th floor reading room of the building s library, where boxes were being unpacked.
