With its faceted, folding wall of glass, the 10-story Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies is a dramatic insertion of contemporary architecture into the wall of historic buildings along Michigan Avenue across from Grant Park. Designed by Chicago architects Ron Krueck and Mark Sexton, the building is at 610 S. Michigan Ave., just to the north of Spertus old home at 618 S. Michigan. It houses the institute s three main divisions Spertus College, the Spertus Museum and the Asher Library as well as a 400-seat theater and a kosher cafe. The building opens to the public on Nov. 30.
