Before she was a star: Poehler could convincingly play a variety of characters, except for the role of a mindful bike owner, said fellow Upright Citizens Brigade comic Matt Besser. Besser said Poehler had her bike stolen soon after she moved to Chicago. She just wrapped her bike chain around a pole, but the pole was only five feet high so the crooks just lifted the bike off the pole, Besser said. "It was kind of a wake-up call to the big city," he said. After her bike was stolen, Besser said Poehler turned "lemons into lemonade by writing a hilarious song calling out the thief who stole her bike."
