When central Illinois native Edgar Lee Masters published his "Spoon River Anthology" in 1915, some hailed it as brilliant while others condemned it as immoral. A century later this collection of free-verse epitaphs spoken from 'the great beyond' remains one of our state's most acclaimed literary works. Over two weeks, Allan Ruter presents a centennial celebration that includes literary history and visual images from Masters' hometowns.
