A Memphis radio station secretly searched the country to find the staff for an “All-Girl” radio station. They went on the air in October 1955. Staffed almost exclusively by women, they were still on the air on April 4, 1968 when Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis. The girls of W.H.E.R. were in a unique position to talk the nation thru this historic event.
