Chicago Choral Artists, joined by the Kontras Quartet, present a candlelight concert of music for Christmas, in both unaccompanied works and works for choir, strings and oboe. Artistic Director Michael D. Costello conducts. Featured works are Distler’s Die Weihnachtsgeschichte, Op. 10, for a cappella choir and soloists, and Charpentier’s In Navitatem Domini Nostri Jesu Christi Canticum, H. 416, for solo voices, mixed chorus, and strings. Poulenc’s O Magnum Mysterium; Reger’s Mariä Wiegenlied, arranged by Wolniakowski; Baldwin’s arrangement of Coventry Carol, and works by Costello, Sirett, Rutter, and Schalk are also on the program.
