Denise La Grassa and co-composer John Kregor’s music mixes with historical images and the paintings of the late Swiss artist Maria Kern to highlight issues of race, from the Middle Passage to today. The show opens with implicit music and dialog about racial bias, fears and hate groups that embrace whites and fear blacks. This performance then engages the audience in a post-show discussion to share stories as a way to understand racial socialization.
