This online class teaches participants to use readings, online discussions and tutorials to dig through a deep well of resources, which, according to an announcement, include "royal monuments to private art of ancient Egypt over a time span of 4,000 years. We will investigate iconography, style, materials and techniques within the broader context of their cultural significance in ancient Egyptian society." Megaera Lorenz, a doctoral candidate in Egyptology at the University of Chicago, will teach the class, which requires that attendees have "a reliable Internet connection, a technical facility with computers and downloading software, as well as the ability to navigate the Internet as a learning tool." Registration is required by Sunday, Jan. 18. by visiting http://oi.uchicago.edu/register.
