Six Corners Association is partnering with the Northwest Chicago Historical Society for their annual Historic Walking Tour exploring the history and evolution of this historic shopping district. On Sunday, May 20 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity to explore modernist retail architecture such as Robert Heller's nearly intact 1940 former Straus & Schram store that's now a burgeoning home to the Portage Arts Lofts including Filament Theatre, National Veterans Art Museum, Inside Out Art Studio, and The Chicago Ballet Center. Tour-goers will go behind the scenes to discuss how Chicago grew at a rapid pace during the early 20th century. This educational, family-friendly event will begin in front of The Portage Theater at 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave and will consist of 1.5 miles of walking for approximately 2 hours. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased here.
