The Elgin Garden Club and the Gail Borden Public Library jointly present a program "Shakespeare in the Garden" by Laura Mueller, lecturer from the Art Institute of Chicago. The Elgin Garden Club is celebrating its100th anniversary this year, and Ms. Mueller features information about the Shakespeare gardens of 1916. Paintings and plants popular in Shakespeare's time and beyond are featured. Ms. Mueller considers why a well-tended garden became one of Shakespeare's prime metaphors.
