The Runcible Theatre Co. presents this critically hailed play by Howard Barker at the Royal George Theatre Center. Set in Venice, on the occassion of its 1571 victory in the Battle of Lepanto, the play, directed by Andrew Root, is about a sensualist artist named Galactia who, selected to mark the occasion for posterity, instead fills her 1,000-square-foot canvas with nothing but the carnage of war. Then, "another battle ensues between artist and state, with Galactia unremitting in the face of extreme adversity," according to promotional materials.
