Pegasus Theatre Chicago performs a staged reading with music of a new adaptation of the National Book Award-winning novel "Middle Passage," by Charles R. Johnson, in which a free man of color in 1830 New Orleans attempts to escape creditors and unwanted pressure to marry by stowing away on a ship leaving port. But it turns out that it's a slave ship bound for Africa. Music is by "American Idol" composer Jaret Landon. Charles Johnson attends all three performances.
