Archaeologist Matthew Piscitelli, of the Field Museum and University of Illinois Chicago, will show how new methods in archaeology reveal the importance of religious rituals in the emergence of the earliest civilization in the Americas — located on the north central coast of Peru — as long ago as 3000 to 1800 BC.
