Attend the grand-opening party of this new 3,000-square-foot neighborhood cooking school inside the Arlington Heights Historical Society's Armory Park building. The money goes to support the school's efforts "to teach everyone in Chicago how to grow and cook their own food," according to an announcement. See how nine well-known local chefs will "tell the story of who and what inspired them to cook one delicious, home-comfort meal shared at long farm tables." included in the price of admission: four hours of food, music, entertainment, open bar and live auction. Also give at the event to the 1,000 Scholarships Campaign and the Fearless Food Kitchen. The chefs and their origins: Joe Frillman of Balena; Dave Miller of Baker Miller; Brad Newman and Michael Taormina of Cookies and Carnitas; Patty Neumson of Herb Restaurant; Chris Pandel of Balena and the Bristol, and Formento’s; Amanda Rockman of Nico Osteria; Erling Wu-Bower of Nico Osteria; Alvin Yu of Fyusion.
