Glenview artist Bruce Cascia has a fascination with the open road, capturing his interpretation of the American landscape in a stunning photorealistic style. Small towns, solitary diners, lonely truck stops, often placed in dramatic vistas and visited on a motorcycle, call to mind the quintessential quest for freedom on the backroads and byways of this vast nation. Leaving the open road, Bruce has recently focused his keen painter’s eye on a vanishing icon of Chicago’s neighborhood heritage—the Chicago-style hot dog stand. Slathered in mustard and neon green relish on a soft poppy seed roll, nothing says “Chicago” more than our hometown hot dog. Through Sept. 9.
