Three-time Grammy and Tony Award winner Dee Dee Bridgewater performs a powerful tribute to jazz great Billie Holiday on the 100th anniversary of her birth, joined by musicians from the Music Institute’s Jazz Studies program. She received a Tony for her role as Glinda the Good Witch in “The Wiz” and a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for her tour de force portrayal of Billie Holiday in Stephen Stahl’s “Lady Day” in London. Performing roles in “Sophisticated Ladies,” “Cosmopolitan Greetings,” “Black Ballad,” “Carmen Jazz,” and the musical “Cabaret” (the first black actress to star as Sally Bowles), she secured her reputation as a consummate entertainer.
