Attend this six-week class that aims to expose participants to "the myths and legends of Mesopotamia (that are) rich in gods, goddesses, demons, monsters, heroes, and kings," according to an announcement. "This course explores a mythological literature that spans millennia, introduces memorable figures like Ishtar and Gilgamesh, and provides some of the earliest descriptions of the creation of the world, the Great Flood and the journey to the underworld." Instructor Sam Harris, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago, specializes in Mesopotamian archaeology.
