Like Social Security, Medicare is far more complicated than most people realize. Many new retirees are largely unprepared to deal with this mandatory health care program, especially if they've been automatically covered by health insurance at work. The biggest shock is that Medicare is not automatic; you have to sign up for it within a specified period of time. It is not free, so supplemental insurance is essential. Regardless of how healthy you may be, it is wise to prepare for serious medical costs in retirement. This class reviews some of the timelines and questions that baby boomers face as they plan their retirement. Note: Savvy Social Security Planning and Medicare Planning are a series. It is recommended that both are taken. Pre-registration is required.
