Help the Indo-American Heritage Museum celebrate the first large-scale donation to its collection of artifacts and pay tribute to its volunteers and financial benefactors in the meantime. The donation comes from the Bengali Students Association of the University of Illinois at Chicago, which is giving the museum its image of the goddess Durga, which has been the centerpiece of Durga Puja celebrations at the university. Also, Kalapriya dancer Kinnari Vora will tell the story through movement of Durga, who, according to an announcement, is the "warrior aspect of the female power (who) fights and vanquishes evil." Other highlights: Tagore songs and a screening of local filmmaker Prashant Bhargava’s "Anthem of Us." Light refreshments will be served. Though free, advance registration is required by emailing happie@iahmuseum.org.
