During the 18th and 19th centuries, drugs and advertising were unregulated. People made outlandish claims of cures from Snake Oil to Swamp Root. You could buy any number of medications by mail order or at a traveling medicine show. This class looks at the history and the ingredients that went into patent medicine. Join in to see some of the colorful advertising for such products as Lydia Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and Asthma Cigarettes.
