My perennial favorite parts are the beginning... and end but, the new route a few years ago is really nice too. At least the past 2 years they added Chinatown and Logan Square, and a new rest stop. I love seeing these areas at night... and the folks in restaurants in awe at us cruising by. They really get into it! Still love Buckingham Fountain invaded by thousands of bikes, groups of friends in costumes, tourists wandering around asking if we do this every week. NOPE just once a year-- earlier this year too. The sun will rise a little earlier over the lake. Catch it near the end of your ride, of during your breakfast. The few bottle-necks are part of the fun.. geeze, you're on your bike at 2AM.. on purpose, and happy!

I'll be doing my 10th LATE Ride this year. A great ride under the stars! It's a ride, not a race. A wonderful 25 mile loop around the city starting and ending at Buckingham Fountain. If you time it right, you get to have a light breakfast back at the fountain and watch the sun rise lakeside.

It can get a little crowded in spots, and some riders are a bit aggressive, so if you're not used to street riding or riding in groups, keep to the right and go at a moderate pace. It's well supported by volunteers along the course in case you have any bike problems, and the Chicago police do a great job at controlling traffic at busy intersections.

A definite add to your ride bucket list!
