Get in the know about this free, monthly concert series that shows off the music of the International Contemporary Ensemble in "an unpretentious and intimate environment" ... every second Sunday," according to an announcement. "Ensemble members perform and muse on various pieces from the ICE repertoire, after which a guest speaker from outside the music realm leads a conversation with the audience." Reserve a spot at this event by visiting https://go.prairie.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=510. The performance for this, the third part of the series, features ICE violinists Jennifer Curtis and David Bowlin, who'll "face off on a program of duos by Italian master Luciano Berio, eclectic Soviet modernist Edison Denisov and New York jazz punk icon John Zorn." Another feature of this month's show is Jennifer Curtis and the world premiere of her new violin and mandolin composition that was recorded as a collaboration with ICE. Members of the ensemble will discuss their work after the show with Joe Shanahan, the owner of Metro/Smartbar, Doubledoor, Gman Tavern and the Daily Bar and Grill. Shanahan, according to "Chicagoist," "singlehandedly [has] the most influence on the Chicago music scene."
