Copies of “Empire of the Summer Moon” by S.C. Gwynne are now available at the readers services desk on the third floor, at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood Street. Note, however, the book discussion takes place at the Des Plaines History Center. Adults and high school students are welcome to take part in sharing this stunningly vivid historical account of the 40-year battle between the Comanche Indians and white settlers for control of the American West. Call the History Center to register. Stay after and view the exhibit, “World War II: Des Plaines and the War against Fascism,” which remains on display at the History Center through December.
