The Highland Park Strings take the stage with soloist and Wilmette native Gabriel Cabezas at Ravinia’s acoustically perfect Bennett-Gordon Hall at 3 p.m. Proceeds support the Strings’ season of three complimentary community concerts. The festivities begin with a performance of Edward Elgar’s Concerto in E Minor by cellist Cabezas. The Strings, a group of 35 accomplished local musicians, will play Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 1. Attendees are invited to arrive early for a preconcert conversation, “The Art of Listening,” led by expert Stephanie Ettelson at 2 p.m. The concert, sponsored by YEA! Highland Park, is performed under the direction of Maestro Francesco Milioto. A donation of $100 or more comes with preferred seating, a listing in the Program Book and free tickets to a Donor Appreciation Chamber Music Concert on April 5.
