Her 1908 discovery opened up the universe to our gaze and enabled astronomers to make historic discoveries about the cosmos. Despite the lack of recognition and the meager pay of 25 cents per hour, Miss Leavitt persevered and made a discovery that transformed our understanding of the universe. Professor Papacosta spent over 10 years researching, writing and speaking about Henrietta Leavitt and her contribution to science. His recent documentary about her will be included in his presentation.
