PJ Paparelli's 'Hair' is not a tie-dye-and-love-bead prom wherein girls in flowing dresses seduce middle-age guys and studly, testosterone-blessed gentlemen strut their vocal stuff for Tony Award consideration. This is a 'Hair' with a lot more dialogue than you'll ever have seen before. This is a 'Hair' with stakes. There is one important caveat to my great admiration for this production: the singing. Some of it — the title song, much of the ensemble harmony, especially from the African-American guys chorus — is stellar. But there are some holes." —Chris Jones
