Step back in time and discover how 1880s farm families put meat on the table and preserved food for the winter. This Schaumburg Park District annual event is held until 4 p.m. The staff show salt-cured meat, smoke hams, and explain how every part of a pig was used. Children’s activities are available throughout the day. Admission is $3 per person and $12 per family of six or fewer with additional members $3 each. Children ages 3 and younger are free. Refreshments and food are available for purchase. Parking is available at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, with a free wagon shuttle.
