From Hate to Hope is the real life story of the reconciliation of a perpetrator (Tim Zaal) and victim (Matthew Boger) of a hate crime. At the age of 13 Matthew's mother kicked him out of their California house for being gay. While living on the streets a group of Skinheads, one of whom was Tim, brutally attacked Matthew. Twenty-five years later Matthew and Tim had a chance encounter at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles where they realized that they had met before, when Matthew was attacked. RSVP for this free event at the Chicago Cultural Center and watch the Academy Award™ nominated documentary, Facing Fear, about this remarkable true story of reconciliation. Following the film, hear Matthew's educational and insightful presentation examining the roots of prejudice and discrimination and the ability to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
