Friedrich Froebel designed geometric toys in Germany in the 1830s, and they were merely a small part of the educational system he invented and called kindergarten and in direct, fashion, they were the vehicle that first exposed everyone at the Bauhaus to the viability of geometric abstraction. The Froebel building block toys fundamental to Frank Lloyd Wright's youthful development, are widely known to architectural graduates.
