Aiming to dispel myths and antiquated assumptions, this exhibition highlights the fallacies most frequently cited by participants in a museum-conducted survey of native people in the U.S. and Canada. Notions of social isolation, cultural stagnancy, artistic expression, alcohol abuse and more are addressed through photos, objects, artwork and other elements.
Highlights include Chicago artist Chris Pappan's "Fire Water Memorial" installation featuring empty liquor bottles painted with native faces, and beaded high-top sneakers from the 1980s.
