The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society and The Great Lakes Naval Base host a walking tour of the Naval Station Great Lakes Cemetery. This event, which begins at the Great Lakes Naval Museum, lasts one to one-and-a-half hours and does involve walking and standing. This tour is open to the public, but a photo ID must be presented and registration is required no later than Sept. 14 by contacting the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society, 847-234-5253 or registering online at www.lflbhistory.org. Walk-ins are not allowed. Included in this tour is a visit to the gravesite of the first recruit to graduate from Naval Station Great Lakes in 1911 as well as other World War I veterans. The Museum is located near the main gate of the Great Lakes Naval Base.
