What was life like for the servants who kept wealthy British households running like clockwork? Leslie Goddard performs as Margaret Powell, a real-life kitchen maid who entered service after World War One and worked in several stately English homes. Learn how the war impacted Margaret’s life as jobs formerly held by men opened up to women for the first time. Based on Margaret’s memoir, Below Stairs, Goddard’s performance brings Margaret’s experiences to life and reveals the amazing story of the woman whose memoir inspired Upstairs, Downstairs and Downton Abbey. Copies of Below Stairs will be available for purchase after the performance.
