The library’s historian, Laurie Russell, shares how women responded to these events: Ft. Dearborn Massacre, Chicago Fire, World's Columbian Exposition, and the Century of Progress World's Fair. These women risked their lives in the underground railroad, built hospitals and schools, contributed to the arts, and created the progressive women's club movement.
