For the 20th consecutive year, WXRT will celebrate the first home game of the baseball season on Chicago's Northside with a special 7-hour live broadcast. Lin Brehmer perpetuates the tradition beginning at 6am with his special Opening Day edition of the XRT Morning Show. Lin's on-location homage to the national pastime includes morning news anchor Mary Dixon, XRT's A Regular Guy, special guest Jeff Garlin of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and musical guest JD McPherson ("North Side Gal"). Immediately following, XRT's Hall of Fame midday personality Terri Hemmert takes the mic to commemorate the start of the season. Terri will be joined by Guster and the Waco Brothers, along with other Opening Day surprises. NBC 5's Morning Show will plant their flag at Yak-Zie's as well. Andy Avalos and Matt Rodewald will be on hand with live reports from 5:00-7:00am. Admission to the event is free, but attendees must be 21 years of age or older; space is limited to venue capacity.
