Wheres the wine

This was dubbed as a wine bar but is far from. Luckily I live near by so I could leave just as quickly as I came. The owners are weird and rude and the service was just strange - my glass of wine was poured a quarter full while the same glass of wine was poured halfway for the 2 other people in my party. And the ladies are no eye candy so I wouldn't bother. I guess I'm just used to upscale NYC lesbian bars. This is a dive.

Joie not so fine without good WINE!

Absolutely horrible, the owner is a total drunk that hit's on people's girlfriends. Everyone in there is so cold and uninviting. I've never felt worse leaving a bar in my life! This does not resemble SOHO, NY. What a joke! I really don't know how this place stays in business. To make it clear, this is NOT a wine bar. For example they stock bottle's of "Bitch" Merlot. Obviously they don't want to be taken seriously. If you want to feel shittier than when you came in, than Joie would be the place. But I'll never go there again and make sure that all my gay friends around the city never have to be exposed to such rude and disrespectful owner's and employee's! The Attic is great, Stargaze, Atmosphere and many, many more. Just not here!

Who do these people thing they are??

This place is a poor excuse for a "wine bar" They only have about 10 wines by the glass, red and white (including "Bitch" Merlot) Obviously they don't really want to be taken seriously. There is absolutely no variety of wine, it's a place to stop and get a quick drink if you've found yourself in the wrong neighborhood. The owner's or whatever ladies run the place are very uninviting, I agree with this last review and unattractive! Very unprofessional. Also they seem like they only want you there if you are in their weird little lesbo click. So yeah, not the place to meet someone or even to feel comfortable. And I also experienced very poor ventilation, I wasn't there for more than 10 minutes before sweat began to poor down my face. They need to get some new faces and variety, and altogether just a new flavor in there. This place is in serious need of help!!! I wouldn't recommend anybody go there, gay or strait.

Not so Hot

Joie de Vine is simply as my title states - not so hot. It's not a wine bar. It's not a real lesbian bar. It doesn't have a dance floor. It doesn't have a dj. It doesn't have entertainment. The best you'll get is a clique-y scene of locals and some slow jazz. The wine selection leaves a lot to be desired. It seems to me everyone here knows each other and they'd like to keep it that way. Which is good because the bar is so slim and small that they're the only ones who can fit. Avoid this place and head to Stargaze instead for dancing and a good time.

Such a cute place and the service is fantastic! The bartender was so attentive and friendly. Let us sample numerous wines before ordering. She introduced us to the owner who was also very nice. We will definitely go back soon.

After reading Alpana Singh's new book, our bookclub went to Joie de Vine in order to keep in the spirit. Well - we were all impressed. We instructed Scott that we would be paying $25 apiece and wanted a good representation of wines. We got way more than we expected - six fantastic wines accompanied by thoughtful explanations. Chees flights included! Joie de Vine is a gem.

Ok...i read the last reviews and i dont know what is wrong with everyone else. I went there for the first time two years ago. A friend of mine told me that its a nice place so i had to come check it out. I have not stopped going there since. The look of the bar first of all looks like a fresh soho bar in NEw York. Second of all they have awesome tracks playing on their sound system. They offer great noshes including cheese and/or charcuterie (pate, sausages) and they pair ever so cleverly with their wines. The bartenders are lovely to look at! The summer patio is gorgeous! Everytime i have brought someone there they go back as well! You have to check it out! I love it there.

Like others, I really want to love this place but in the evening the service is consistently awful. Incredibly slow and vaguely rude in their coldness. It's not because they get busier; I get the feeling that they simply don't care.

Still a nice place when they first open up in the late afternoon though.

Don't the owners of Joie have Eyes?(or ears) The new place down the street is exactly what this place should be with great wines and even better martinis. Take a peak ladies and learn a little something. We'll be back if you shape up a bit.
