I had a terrible dinner, but there is a good reason... or two. We first ordered the olive and cheese appetizer. I've had dozens like it but this was out of this world.. The cheeses were so fine and the olives so fresh and juicy. The goat cheese was like what I ate in France. The fresh bread was delicious served complimentary with olive tapenade. However, the waitresses were very friendly with a horrifyingly ineibriated group next to us. We moved, but they got louder and louder. The waitresses had served the group, who arrived PLASTERED, three bottles of wine and shots of scotch while we were there. They were passing out in their seats when we left. They were loud and would stand up and stumble over us. Nobody said a word! How unprofessional- we wanted a nice patio dinner but it was embarassing. There are few healthy options on the menu so I ordered, believe it or not, pollo saltimbocca. The prosciutto was very good, not to fatty, and I substituted roasted veggies for mashed. The entire plate, however, was loaded with butter. I filled a small container with just the juices. It was so oily I didn't touch the plate. The chicken was a bit pink, but very delicious anyway. CUt so thin that it was only barely warmed and done. For buy one get one meals on Sundays and 7 dollar wine glasses on a 800-bottle menu, we'll be back. But next time only for appetizers on my behalf. My husband's linguine with saffron frutti di mare was awesome.
Report This ReviewI enjoyed my time at Piatini. We sat outside on the patio for dinner and then inside for after dinner drinks. The service was friendly. A fun atomosphere. I loved the calamari. Probably the best i've had! And i try calamari everywhere. I also loved the fried cheese, i believe it's provolone. I would go back in a hearbeat.
Report This ReviewJust moved back to Lincoln Park and found my new FAVORITE place! The food and wine are fantastic and the service has always been very good. I've been there 5 times now in the past month and its always been great. The daily specials are great as well. My boyfriend and I go on thursdays for the dinner for 2, dinner and a bottle of wine for $50. Keep up the good work!
Report This ReviewI was quite thrown off by the romantic classification of this place. Yes, there was candlelight at the tables, but the overall atmosphere was extremely loud. The fact that the metro is directly on top of this restaurant is incredibly distracting. This could be a good place to go if you are in the neighborhood, but I would never go out of my way to head back there, especially not for a special occasion like Valentines Day. Food was great, but the atmosphere was loud and not so romantic!
Report This ReviewWouldn't rate Enoteca as high as the other reviewers. The fare was as much Italian as New American. Felt the food was good - maybe very good, but the deserts were abysmal. The Tira Misu was the only scratch desert (by admission) - which we didn't have., but it wasn't recommended either.
Getting the picture here? Probably have some great family recipes, a purchasor with an eye for quality (think Butera family), an above average cook, but suspect not a Chef who could enhance the food/presentation, and put together some deserts.
Designated parking in rear a little confusing - variety of signs. Dining area has a musty odor - it's an older building.
The value is compelling with all of their promotions. Great neighborhood place, but wouldn't go out of my way.
Report This ReviewI live in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and was introduced to this restaurant by a friend. It is now a restaurant that my husband and I attend quite frequently. The food is fantastic, both of us are Italian so we know good Italian cooking when we find it. I try to get something different each time I go, and am always happy. Some of my favorites are the penne arribiata, the trio of filet medallions, chicken and veal limone, the specials are often excellent as well.
We have had a few bad service experiences there, but the food is always worth it!
Report This ReviewI love this place, on friday until 6 they have half off their food! try the rigitoni secco with chicken or italian sausage it's delicious! Nice atmosphere, dim lighting, romantic for cheap!!!!
Report This ReviewThis restaurant is a great place to get as close to authentic italian food as you can get in the States . Sure some of it is geared to the American palate, but that's what the people want. Unfortunately because I work in the restaurant industry as well, and in the southwest suburbs, I do not always get into the city. But when I do and want great italian food... I go the Enoteca Piattini. Their specials are always top-notch. The service I have received in the past has always been great. Their wine list... for a wine lover such as I am... is mouth watering. Especially their Italian Reds section. The guys behind the bar make a great cappuccino. The guys (or girls) in the kitchen make great EVERYTHING! This is a must try especially if you are planning a romantic getaway outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago.
Report This ReviewFood and service was wonderful (attentive, informative, patient). We were there on a rainy Thursday evening, and it was a great escape. The lighting and ambiance is very warm and intimate. The food is good. Be sure to try the grilled octopus, it's excellent. Food is consistently good, had the salmon on a pervious occasion and it was fabulous. Food is very fresh. Great date place and a great place to gather with friends. I gathered with friends and it was great to relax, talk, and enjoy wonderful food together.
Report This Reviewalthought the flights of wine were good.....the experience stopped there. Service....non-existant. Food - undercooked. You are better off eating the foccocia and just drinking your frustrations with Enoteca Piattin's away. I have never written a review before but our evening was RUINED by this place.
