Tim O'Donnell opened Brewing' Beer in 1980, long before the current mania for microbrews. Even though exotic beers of all varieties are proliferating on liquor store's shelves, O'Donnell insists that there is no better, healthier, or cheaper brew than the homemade kind. A beer-making kit costs $44 here, and after the initial investment, will yield beer for approximately 25 cents a bottle. Economy is not what motivates basement brewmeisters, however. 'It's a do-it-yourself thing, like cooking,' O'Donnell said.
