Diversey Rock 'n' Bowl
- 2211 W. Diversey Ave.

- Price range: $ (Under $9)
Most of the alley's leagues play to music and, from the look of the weekend crowd, it's proven to be a potent alternative to the bar scene. So potent, in fact, that the weekend waiting list can reach an hour -- no more than a trifling inconvenience for many who iron the kinks out of their game by downing a couple in Kegler's, the alley's bar and restaurant percolating with 13 flat-screen TVs and an extensive yet reasonably priced menu of greasy pizza, appetizers, build-your-own-burgers, entrees and draft beers. All that gutter balling can surely work up an appetite. Even longer than the lane wait however, can be the request list for songs. So get your requests in often and early. The alternative could be expensive. The DJ notes, cracking a grin, that he's benefitted from more than one bidding war.
The lanes are also a popular place to hold parties, fueling the festive atmosphere. Check out the collection of autographed pins belonging to such "bowling greats" such as Dolly Parton and grunge rock icon Eddie Vedder. And, for a true cross-cultural experience, play side-by-side with the "Born in Cuba" league as members bowl to salsa and meringue.
