This Euro-style sports bar is all about providing upscale bar eats in a homey setting, says general manager Tarik Cogal. "Baza" does mean "home" in Ukrainian, after all. A marble-topped bar, old-fashioned wood paneling and photos of sports greats set the scene, while 19 TVs will air anything from soccer to boxing to baseball, depending on patrons' preferences. A globally inspired menu combines snacks such as pork potstickers and mushroom-goat cheese empanadas with funky creations such as Captain Crunch chicken fingers. Higher-end entrees such as a 12-ounce New York strip steak and pan-seared salmon with asparagus are also available.
Baza is BYOB for now, with fresh orange, grapefruit and pomegranate juice on hand for mixed drinks; a full bar is expected to debut later this summer.
